Posted by raffy It's nice to be back here at typhoon2000 Discussion board... Oh, it's been a while since we had our last tropical cyclone (Super typhoon Chanchu. How can the Filipinos not forget this once ferocious howler which directly passed through the heart of the Philippine archipelago, inflicting lots of damage to properties and loss of lives as well. As a matter of fact, it even caused a storm surge in our town (Bauang, La Union...along the beach coast) when it was veering its way towards Southern China. It really caused a lot of houses to be destroyed and also many tree branches and leaves fell as the storm strengthened briefly into a super typhoon then slowly weakened as it progressed in a poleward motion. It wa sreally one heck of a mighty storm.. Anyway, I was just browsing through the site and saw the satellite imagery for Asia.. It seems that there is a suspicious group of convective clouds just hundred miles away from hawaii (to its west) or miles away to the southeast of guam.. I guess this is just considered a tropical wave and the best thing to do for know is just keep an eye on this suspicious system.. thanks michael... regards.. raffy
