Posted by raffy sorry its been a while since i posted my message here... it seems that the typhoon season is now getting into action, with Henry intensifying into a typhoon in the warm waters of South China sea and another cluster of swirling clouds southwest of Guam,,, this is indeed the time when storms and tropical systems form over the Pacific ocean and SCS... Another surprising thing to note is almost all of the named disturbances for this year passed throught or at least affected the Philippine islands... some of which had indirect but deadly effects by means of the southwest monsoon rains that they draw from the South china sea... Another observation of this season is that the general direction of storms is in a northwesterly one, if not westnorthwesterly, which keeps the storm from making landfall on Japan... The usual path for typhoons is in the direction of Taiwan, Southern China (guangdong and fujian Province in particular)and of course the Northern Philippines... hmm, why is this so? is this the effect of a mild La nina season? correct me if im wrong... or is it just because the subtropical ridges are so strong that they hinder such storms from going to a more northerly path? Michael just wanna ask if the disturbance southwest of Guam has a great chance of becoming a strong typhoon and if it does, will it hit the philippines especially Northern Luzon? thanks,,,, regards...
