Posted by raffy it seems that your forecast for the remaining dAYS OF THE 2006 western pacific typhoon season is correct! i commend you for that.... i just hope nothing will form after durian// with the development of durian, how high is the possibility that it will be a strong typhoon or even a super typhoon by the time it hits the Philippines? will it still be able to maintain its intensity as it cuts across Central Luzon? Will the sierra madre and cordillera mountain ranges be strong enough to hinder the punch of the storm unto the lowlands of Central and northern Luzon particularly La Union and PAngasinan ? I asked this question because I live La Union and I am planning to go home this coming Thursday/Friday (depending on the arrival of the typhoon) for me to be able to experience the possible wrath of this howler. I also want to compare if typhoon durian will be different from the 2 previous consecutive typhoons that hit Northern Luzon this month (PAENG and QUEENIE) when it comes to intensity and wind speed.From what I observed, Paeng was more powerful than Queenie because of the strong winds it caused in our place. La Union did not experience much from Chebi/Queenie, maybe because of the cordillera mountain ranges that hindered its winds and caused it to weaken significantly . Our nearby province Pangasinan experienced strong winds but for a few hours only. Michael, can you say, with certainty , that this typhoon is a lot different from the 2 typhoons? as to the destruction it might cause? You said in your typhoon synopsis that this one is similar to super typhoons ROSING(1995) and SISA(1987) ... is this still what you're feeling right now? these are all for now.. i hope you can answer my q ueries...
