To all members and monitoring stations, we are sorry to announce that Typhoon2000 is currently unavailable due to the onslaught of Supertyphoon Reming/Durian yesterday lunchtime. I have talked to Mr. Padua over the phone at 10 PM last night and told me that the anemometer of the station recorded maximum wind speed of 189.9 kph before it went down.The following are the highlights of Remings unexpected turn:
-Landfall at around 8AM at Virac Point, Catanduanes;
-PAGASA Virac weather station recorded gusts of 260 kph before their station closed to prevent damage to instruments. (Legaspi station also reported anemometer damage)
-At about 12pm/noon it made its 2nd landfall at the town of Tiwi in Albay with 240 kph and passed 15 kms ESE and SE of Naga City (between Pili and Naga).
-Naga City is now left without power, internet connections, and occasionally disrupted telephone services...please bear with us
