KATRINA on the other hand reached 278 km/hr (150 kts) over the Gulf of Mexico before weakening to 205 km/hr (Cat 3).

When we speak of the place of landfall...there are two different comparisons here and remember, these are estimates.
+ KATRINA = 130 km/hr = Place: Miami Area = Cat 1
+ KATRINA = 205 km/hr = Place: Near Buras, Louisiana = Cat 3
