Is the Pacific warm enough?

With all the temperatures blazing over the equatorial regions of Southeast Asia and NW Pacific...is the ocean warm enough to generate our annual "raging titans"? Remember history might repeat itself with the similar cycles of very warm years followed by the cataclysmic storm seasons 1983-1984, 1988-89 (until 1990), 1992-1993, 1995, 1998-1999....whats next? 2004-2007?
