Hi there my friend. The tag as the most typhoon visited country in the world is coined to the Philippines because since the start of typhoon records, the fewest typhoons we had was 11 in 1998 (thats still higher than any average typhoon number of any country)and had as much as 32 in 1993. The old typhoon names used in 1963-1999 was using 19 out of the 20 alphabets of the old Philippine Alphabet (A,B,K,D...)and for a dozen times, the weather bureau ran out of names and used an auxillary list (starting with A again, and so forth). That shows only that the "AVERAGE" number in a year is MORE than 19 cyclones (frequently 19-20). With regards to last statement about a map for 2007, let me just inform you that "typhoon season" (usually May-November) in the Philippines isn't yet halfway (eventhough typhoons occur at all times of the year)! Typhoons are the least by February with an increasing number starting July to October and tapering down to December until January. In cases of the 1970, 1995, 1998 and 2004 season, the start of year was typically a slow typhoon season where cyclones came in trickles but by the end of September until the 3rd week of November, destructive and powerful typhoons came in successive hits that a typhoon after typhoon came just within less than a week away from each other (others came like "twins" and "triplets", eg. SENING-TITANG-YOLING, PEPANG-ROSING,ILIANG-LOLENG, UNDING-VIOLETA-WINNIE). The year 2007 is not yet over so we could not see if we still expect the number of typhoons to reach 20 or more, or fall short of the average. By January 2008 you will know the complete typhoon number and maps will be posted on all weather sites (trivia: it is rare for a typhoon to accur at a yearend shift but Typhoon HARRIET ravaged Bicol from Dec.28, 1959 until JAN 2, 1960!!). I hope I have answered your query. We're having our fingers crossed that 2007 would not be as destructive like the 2004 and 2006 year-end season.
