So far there were 5 tropical cyclone entered Philippine area of Responsibility and 11 officially named tropical cyclone over Western Pacific (not included the unnamed 5 tropical depressions developed over near Eastern Taiwan last month based on Japan Meteorological Agency) which are far low (like 1998 which has 11 entered PAR and 25 officially named over WPAC) from its average mainly attributed for the increasing development of La-Nina phenomenon. However, 2007 are still far to end and with the current conditioning of Western Pacific(such as the increasing Sea surface temperature over Western Pacific, improving Ocean heat content, increasing convections due to deepening ITCZ, and possible average 10-20kts Vertical Shear for most part) will increase the probability of more active Tropical Cyclone before the end of the year. So we better observed and study more of this conditioning of WPAC coz probably 2-3 of this system are Category 4 or 5 and might also hit us before the end of the year.
: I have several questions, but maybe I should
: just start with one at a time.
:
: I read in a previous post that "the
: Philippines is the most typhoon visited
: country in the world with an average of 20
: typhoons every year."
:
: However, I do not see a map for 2007. If
: there were about 20 typhoons this year,
: where can I see them on a map showing the
: Philippines? Thank you.
