I am an Actuary working for the micro insurance agency.
We provide insurance products for the poor - and currently I am working on a typhoon insurance product for poor farmers in south east asia - specifically the philippines at the moment.
We aim to use the typhoon track data for the insurance pricing, but also to determine the payouts made to farmers - so in a storm of appropriate intensity and distance from the farmer happens during the coverage period, the farmer would receive an automated payout.
We have been using data from the JMA so far, but one of the problems we have with their data is that it is not released until the end of the season. Has anyone been able to get "Best Track" data early after the Typhoon occurs - either from JMA, JTWC or PAGASA?
