: I am currently viewing the latest satellite
: animation of TY Lupit in JMA's satellite
: imagery. It seems that Lupit is drifting
: northeast to east very slowly. The mid-level
: low pressure trough is pulling Lupit to the
: northeast. I don't know but it looks like TY
: Lupit is veering away from the country, and
: it's already on a high latitude (17
: degrees). However, I remember a similar
: typhoon, UNDING (MUIFA) which drifted east
: to north east then performed a clockwise
: loop and tracked west-southwest.

Typhoon Lupit is currently undergoing an Eyewall Replacement Cycle. It is one of the reasons why it was downgraded from the supertyphoon status last night. Current satellite animation shows that Lupit's outer eyewall is moving into the inner core of the system, and as it seems that a larger eye will be formed. Lupit's circulation also seems to be increasing in size. It don't know, but Lupit might just caught us by surprise, If the eyewall replacement cycle becomes "successful", and the circulation becomes tighter, it could reintensify, maybe stronger than its recent peak intensity.
