Same here, my BS is not even in the physical sciences but I read about the weather since way back. It's just now when I decided to give it a shot.

Actually, people there are not meteorologists from the start. Virtually all the technical people there (pagasa) only have an engineering background. They gain primary knowledge in meteorology and formal training/education along the way. So if you have that kind of skills from experience, consider yourself a true expert - not in "title" but in skills! Just have your friends known in the field to vouch for you.
