Those warnings don't always concern tropical weather and are more significant to Japan. The "storm" they're referring to are midlatitude cyclones - those large cold core storms that produce fronts (cold and warm fronts). well, unless they indicate [TD],[TS],[STS],[TW] which refer to tropical depression, tropical storm, strong tropical storm and typhoon warning respectively...
