thanks amigo!....I have seen the email addy's of the people there at the PAGASA website but since them I am hesitant to email them because I am not sure if they would entertain me because it might be their personal email or office email only related to their field or section of specialization. Anyway thanks...I will try NDCC
: PAG-ASA email. Hi Dominic! Last Sep 12 I am
: not sure who to write to so I just tried all
: the emails listed in the pag-asa website (it
: took me long to find those). After 5 days, I
: got a reply from Mr. Nat "Tani"
: Cruz. Just try and try, and perhaps when
: they are not so busy, they will (or will
: not) reply. he he

: : Yo! yo! yo!
:
: NDCC has not been available for the
: following storms.....UNDING, VIOLETA,
: WINNIE, YOYONG and AURING.....death toll,
: casualties and damages, etc.
:
: PHIVOLCS - I kinda admire these people
: because they have a better website (than the
: 2 mentioned on the subject), more friendly
: and responsive people who answers our
: questions in their guestbook, can be
: contacted through mail, phone and email,
: user friendly...
:
: PAGASA - this website is for their loyalists
: only. No contact email for questions and
: comments, not user friendly (too
: scientifically and meteorologically
: constructed and presented), walang maganda
: na makukuha except for the weather bulletins
: and signals
:
:-P

: Guys,
:
: Thanks for those comments. I hope the
: government should start now in implementing
: these new policies and action plans for
: PAGASA and PHIVOLCS:
: UPGRADING PAGASA & PHIVOLCS FORECASTING
: CAPABILITY
:
: 1. Forecasting capabilities of PAGASA and
: PHIVOLCS will be upgraded through improved
: equipment and staff development utilizing
: government resources and, if possible,
: foreign grants. Capability upgrade to focus
: on improved forecasting of natural hazards,
: such as typhoons, earthquakes, volcanic
: eruptions and tsunamis.
:
: 2. Linkages and networking with foreign
: forecasting institutions covering the
: Pacific Rim and South China Sea (e.g.
: Hawaii, Japan, China) have to be established
: and strengthened to be able to source
: different forecasts from different places
: tracking the same natural hazard. Effort
: should be exerted to make tracking and
: forecasting a regional, not only a domestic,
: concern.
:
: 3. Completion of studies identifying places
: prone to geo-hazards(e.g. geo-hazard maps)
: and identification of potential risks for
: reference in land use plans and disaster
: management plans.
:
: 4. Compilation and analysis of databases on
: natural hazards to identify trends and
: varying levels of impact of natural hazards
: in different places.
:
: 5. Establishment of a rapid media-link
: system for real-time dissemination of
: information from the monitoring agencies to
: the media particularly during on-going
: disaster management operations.
:
: I think these lacks linkages with amateurs
: typhoon chasers like us..tsk tsk...
:
: One more thing, the NDCC as of the moment,
: doesn't have detailed report on AURING's
: passage. Where is it? Their website lacks
: content.

: I suggest :
: READING AND COMPREHENSION REFRESHER/CRASH
: COURSE - for PAGASA forecasters (for them to
: better read, understand and to inform us on
: what they are writing and publishing)
: REFRESHER COURSE ON PUBLIC STORM SIGNAL
: WARNINGS-estimation, timing and broadcasting
: (for them to know when and where to put a
: warning signal)
: BASIC TYPHOON PLOTTING AND UNDERSTANDING
: TROPICAL CYCLONES - for journalists,
: broadcasters, media practitioners and
: government agencies (for them to think twice
: before operating their machine-gun mouths
: and criticizing statements; to know how to
: do simple typhoon "basics" in case
: PAGASA becomes quite "unreliable"
: with weather bulletins and unorganized
: warning systems.
:
: and well...THEY SHOULD ALL START LEARNING TO
: CLICK THOSE MOUSES AND LOG INTO THE
: INTERNET...ITS THE 21ST CENTURY FOR #$%x&*
: SAKE! VISIT OUR WEBSITE (he hehe he he)
: ..... and for those forecasters to start
: using IODIZED SALT ha?....its better late
: than never!
