What's your memorable typhoon/hurricane/cyclone experience?

Could anyone share his/her memorable typhoon experience?
example:
Typhoon: Nitang(1984),Ruping(1990),Puring(1993), Pepang(1995)
What happened?
Nitang:ate cassava for the whole day (yiii!), helped my mother remove flourescent lights at our gate to prevent them from being blown away
Ruping: had my first direct eye passage experience for an hour and a half...typhoon weather at 3AM until 2:30 PM of Nov. 13, whistling and howling winds (as if theres no tomorrow), no electricity from Nov.12 until Dec. 24, made a laundry basin full of "atchara" from fallen papayas...no school for two weeks (our school's 4 classrooms were stripped to the walls and floor), electric posts snapped to splinters, concrete walls toppled, my favorite mango tree uprooted leaving my hammock useless
Puring: caught at sea with gigantic waves while on a jampacked passenger liner for Manila---like being shaken inside a bottle!
Pepang: held on our roof for 15 minutes and let it fly away afterwards, saw the whole house shiver and rumble,heard nothing but the roaring wind like an airplane and sound of galvanized iron crunching, had a hard time brushing off mud from our floor; an SUV must have passed 3 meters from our house as seen by the narrow area of severe damage 500 meters long that included our garden
