it all started a long time ago, in a galaxy far away. well really it was my house, on my old HP computer, long before 25 september 1997. a bunch of us ub40 fans used to email and chat regularly and hang out on an old insidetheweb board for ub40 fans and the old aol ub40 board.
on a lark, i found a message board site and thought "what the heck, let's do this". in the beginning we were only a few. then our numbers grew. we had our first fanfest in london/birmingham may 1998 after chatting and discussing it on THIS jams island message board.
we chatted weekly, bi weekly and monthly. we laughed and we smiled and we bought cds and concert tickets and we shared our love of ub40.
i once wrote (in my island bio) that this message board is my labour of love. it truly is.
day after day we all prop this place up. and i have a lot of help from my friends (and the tartgurls who know who they are), support from the band (thanks bt, you are my hero-man), and with support from my hubby/family.
to all of the fans and islanders who visit, remember to POST (not just lurk), show up to chats every month and just are there, a huge round of applause and cheers (and some of those umbrella drinks)! 
thank YOU everyone, after 11 years, we're still here, sometimes a bit quiet but always there!!
