Well where the hell do I start??! Sorry if I waffle on abit but im trying to recall everything as I go along so its gonna be a long one!
What an amazing week from start to finish it really couldn't have gone any better.
After just a few weeks to plan the trip then the nightmare of Zoom going bust (not only for us but also for some of the bands families too) claiming money back, rebooking flights, hurricanes being threatended all adding to the stress
This was my first beach holiday in 10 yrs & if theres not another one for a fair few years I dont care after Bermuda!
Everything went smoothly with flights/transport etc.. this was my 1st long haul and I found it so boring I dont know how the UBs do it all the time
We arrived in the evening & the band arrived around 2 hours later but we didnt see any of them until the next afternoon.
We ventured out,got our barings and found a nice bar with good food.
The thing I first noticed was a weird noise sounding like an alarm as soon as I stepped outside,Tanya told me it was the whistling frogs I couldnt believe something so tiny could make so much noise!!
Anyway I woke up at the crack of dawn all excited and raring to go so left my room mate sleeping and went for a walk around to take photos, pick up breakfast for us then had my 1st swim. Its so nice having the pool to yourself. When I got back 3 hours later the Wildone didnt even know I'd been out
We sunbathed by the poolside all morning then met a friend in town for lunch & a look around.
The days/nights kinda blur into each other so I'm not 100% sure what happened on the exact day but lots of meetings, beach trips, pool sides, swims, jacuzzis, dinners, hot curry, lunches with some the band followed and it was a totally awesome week.
We were pretty much treated like royalty and it was such a special time that we will never ever forget and we are eternally grateful to our hosts.
The weather was sometimes abit hit & miss as it was the start of the rainy season but we did everything we wanted to and more. It was always warm & sometimes very humid but a stunningly beautiful but very expensive island that I would visit again without a doubt.
The day of the show was gorgeous,a hot sunny day with not a cloud in sight, spent around the poolside with the occasional dip to cool down...however... after heading off around 4pm to get showered & changed for the show the heavens opened with the most torrential rain I had seen all week!
We headed off to the venue inbetween the stop & start of the rain and made our way into the hospitality tents to keep dry.
A reggae band were playing in the background when we arrived who in my opinion sounded better than the local support act Collie buds! Then came a comedian who had us in fits about fake boobs & the price of local fuel. How he couldnt date a girl from the other end of the island as he couldnt afford the fuel because he needed it to get to work instead!
Then Collie buds came on who were ok I guess but they didnt do much for me to be fair, they had a short set due to the rain and the local crew were having to sweep the water from the stage with brooms. We felt so sorry for the UBs & the crowds having all this rain when the day had been so beautiful the seating area was a sea of umbrellas...then.... with afew mins to go our prayers were answered the rain stopped how lucky were we!! :D
Tanya ventured out of the tent followed closely by myself but by which point id lost her in the crowd so I just headed down to the front row anyway, security were very tight and I know Luci was manhandled by one of them
There was a big gap between the stage and the barrier and another gap between the seats, they wouldnt let you anywhere near to take photos so mine turned out pretty disappointing.
Again as with the USA gigs they were trying to make you sit down but after a while I think the crowd overwhelmed them and they gave up...the crowd were going mad for the boys they totally rocked the joint and had the crowd including myself screaming for more.
The highlight for me was hearing Dunc doing Many rivers for the first time,he blew me away he sounded beautiful I had goosebumps all over.
Halfway through the show a huge security guard came right upto my face,so I thought oh here we go hes going to move me on or stop my photos but...he said how come you know every word to all the songs? I told him about the BB and said we had flown all the way from the UK and he shouted wow and held up his hand for a high five!
I spotted Tanya in the crowd just before the encore but couldnt get to her so I found her after the show.
Liz came over to me after the show and shouted we just saw you on the big screen singing along...I had no idea I was being filmed
We headed backstage with the wags while Lesley changed back into her heels after sinking in the mud, then we waited for the guys to get changed.
Myself,Tan & Luci were busy trying to peel monkey stickers to get the ones we had missed during the week (Aaron you need to get easy peel mate!) anyway photos and many laughs followed along with the champers flowing & the wicked choons from Astros Ipod 8) followed by a lively coach journey back to the hotel & then onto a club it was the end to a superb evening.
The next day was alittle disheartening as it was our final full day on the island & things were drawing to a close we sat in a bar reliving every special moment
I want to say a huge huge thankyou to Norman,Astro,Dunx,Tony,Brian & Lesley,Jimmy & Liz,Robin & Luci,Earl & Kim,Martin & Jess,Los & lisa,Paul & Caroline and all the crew for their warmth and hospitality and also to my touring partner Wildcat during this trip of a lifetime.
Big love & thanks to you all :friends:
