I am welding 1/4" and 3/8" thick steel that is rolled into funnel shaped tubes. We get them with a 60 degree bevel and about a 1/16" gap. The seam needs to be welded with a tig root pass, then a cover pass. My question is, what is the trick to get a nice smooth finish inside the tube, the inspector wants it to be cleaned, but its hard to get into the center to grind. I havnt attempted yet, but i am faced with doing these for a new customer and they tell me about the troubles the shop before had doing this. I will try to run a purge line to see if helps. Any insite would be appriciated. thanks
