This might help. By the way what state do you live in ?
Class 1- This is an apprentice or trainee license. The individual holding this license must be under direct supervision of a Class 2, 3, 4, or 5 license holder depending on the type of work being performed. No welding may be performed under this license.
Class 2- This is a Pressure Vessel installers license. The individual holding this license may install unfired pressure vessels by any non-welded method of attachment. Examination required.
Class 3- This is a Building Service Mechanic license. The license allows the individual to install boilers, pressure vessels, or regulated piping systems by any non-welded method of attachment. Examination required.
Class 4- This is a Boilermakers license. The license allows the holder to to install alter or repair boilers, pressure vessels or regulated piping systems by welded or non-welded methods of attachment. Examination required.
Class 5- This is a Steamfitters license. The license allows the individual to install alter or repair boiler or non-boiler external piping by welded or non-welded methods of attachment. Examination required.
Class 6- This is the License for a welder. The license allows the individual to weld on boilers, pressure vessels, or regulated piping systems under the supervision of a Class 4 or 5 license holder depending on the work being performed.
