Posted by Chuck Stringer I've taken a couple beginning welding classes and would like to set up my own shop for hobby welding. I have a garage on a lot I recently purchased that I would like to use. Its a standard two-car wood frame with cement floor and open wood rafters. The walls are panelled. What can I do to best make this into a safe hobbiest welding shop? I intend on investing in fire extinguishers. Is there a fire retardent paint that would be good for the rafters? I intend on running angle iron around where the walls meet the floor to keep sparks out and investing in good fire extinguishers. TIA, Chuck
