I would like put up a question regarding a failure we had in our plant. A pipe (ASTM A439 D2; JIS FCDA NiCrNb 20.2, Ni-Resist D2DW) bursted partially (covering 90%) along the length. Max gap measured between the cracked faces: 15 mm.
We need to repair this on temporay basis till we can source a new one.
Pipe Dimensions: ID 700mm; L 2050mm, Thickness 16mm.
I would like to know, whether we can proceed with repair option or not. The pipe is a component of a pump (a riser pipe), and trueness, alignment and axial positioning are imporatnt criteria.
