Hi Shirley,
One of my relatives is Capt John Alexander Petley who came to NZ as a Lieutenant with the 58th of Foot Regiment, maybe on HMS Racehorse. It is my understanding that he married Mere Kingi, and had two boys, theirs names were John ? Petley, and Gladwyn Charles Petley.
Gladwyn Charles Petley married Isabel Douglas. All lived in or near Tairua. They had a family of 8
Meres father was Wiremu Kingi Te Rangitake, who has an interesting history, just google his name.
Hope this may help, I am after info myself as I don't have much.
