Apparently I also share John Horton McKay as a common ancestor, through his daughter, Catherine, on my mother's side. I note that you state that the McKay "family" came from Scotland and landed at Port Waikato. Can you provide any additional information about Johnson
and his wife, Paisley McKay's arrival? I had always assumed that John Horton McKay arrived in NZ on his own. I understand that John Horton McKay was born about 1816 in the town of Paisley, Renfrewshire (near Glasgow).
