Tena Koe e Hine, Liz Rawhiti, I knew your father, and I met him with Naani Susie and Naani Nepu. The years have rolled by and I was notified of this Email message by you to me by my son Tama. I do have a Whakapapa for Henare Whakapapa and Naani Hana Hopa.Ngati Korokoro,Ngati Hau,Ngai Tu,Te Uriroroi,Te Parawhau,Ngati Rongo,Te Uri O Hau,Ngati Mauku,Ngati Kauae,Ngati Kura,Ngati Te Hana-Tainui, Ngati Manuhiri,Ngai Tahu/Tahuhu,Ngati Kaiwhare,Te Upokomutu,Ngati Rangi,Ngati Whatua/Ngapuhi/Tainui. These are some of the tribes Naani Henare was aitanga to. I have completed a historical background report for the Kaipara District Council on the Genesis of the Kaipara Tribes and their movements from the Hokianga to the east and then into the Northern Wairoa Districts to Tamaki Makaura. My Mum loved Naani Hopa and told me many stories of their communications at Tinopai-Te Komiti. Mum said all travel was on foot and corridor of water. Dances were held at Arapaoa-Hukatere, Tinopai-Poutu, Oturei-Dargaville. My Mum and her Brother Johny were born at Te Komiti-Tinopai and were very close to Naani Hana, who they said was very old.Mum and Uncle Johny travelled to Mangakahia with their elders and the Maramatanga.I also went to Mangakahia and met Naani Hopa's whanau, and the Toka whanau, Naani Wati of Parakao, Naani Huriana Hopa Whatitiri, Naani Iriana Davis Poroti, Naani Pekama Poa Pipiwai and all are now desceased but their memories remain in my heart, their moko's today I have met, time moves on, whakapapa is spiritual and lives when in the hands of the chosen ones. I am marama to your needs to link your whanau to your tupuna and I hope to one day meet you and help you complete your research.A future with no past can ever be.Arohanui Charlene Walker-Grace Te Whetu Marama Marae Kohai' Matakohe, Northern Wairoa Ki Kaipara
