Hi Selina, I'm just going through some of my family aswell and I happen to be lost at Te Oti/George, I'm not sure if you are searching for the same thing but I believe that my families surname was originally Te Oti and they somehow had it change to Oti along the line there somewhere I just assumed that it was because my great grandfather's name was Hori = George as his first name and given that the family choose the first name as their surname then this is why we say that we are either Oti or George some of our family have taken George and majority have taken Oti, But my Great, Great Grandmothers Death Certificate says Te Oti I'm interested in researching this very side of the family are you able to tell me if you have any information in regards to a Hori (George)Tiriwa Te Oti whom Married Ngaparaihe {Whia} Wetere in the late 1800's or thereabout. I would be truly appreciative.
