Nga mihi mahana kia koutou katoa. It has been great to read everyones korero on our tupuna, Whakataute Raureti Te Huia/Te Huia Raureti and Materita. Does anyone know where our koroua is buried?? I visited the urupa at Mangatoatoa recently with other whanau members and couldn't find any evidence of his grave. Historians say he was born 1840 & died aged 95 at Mangatoatoa, belongs to the hapu Ngati Paretekawa o Ngati Maniapoto and is also a nephew of Rewi Maniapoto. I understand his fathers name is Raureti Paiaka?? If anyone can add to this, that would be great. I am very keen to learn more about our tupuna. Materita seems a mystery...would love to learn more about this woman. I also understand that it is through her that many of us whakapapa back to Whanganui Bay. I don't know what she looks like but if anyone would be kind to share a photo of her, I would be most grateful... nga mihi maioha, Sarah Hepi-Te Huia
