Kia ora, I'm researching the iwi Ngati Maringi, seeking any information as to who this Tupuna Maringi is? All i know is that this Iwi lived somewhere in the valley of Manganui-o-te-ao.
The information i seek is, does the hapu Ngati Uenuku come the umbrella of Ngati Maringi or another?
Is the Manganui-o-te-ao the awa this hapu identify as belonging too.
Other then Ruapehu would you know if Ngati Maringi linked themselves to a hill in the Manganui-o-te-ao as being their maunga?
Is there a marae to which Ngati Uenuku from the valley belong too?
Is there known whakapapa that place Ngati Maringi on the Aotea waka
If you know someone who also maybe able to help with this research please let me know?
