I'm researching the iwi Ngati Maringi, and wondered if anyone had information as to who this Tupuna Maringi was? All i know is that this Iwi lived in the valley of Manganui-o-te-ao north of Pipiriki.
What is the hapu name for Ngati Maringi (Ngati Uenuku)or another?
Is the Manganui-o-te-ao the awa this hapu identify as belonging too.
Other then Ruapehu would you know if Ngati Maringi linked themselves to a hill in the Manganui-o-te-ao as being their maunga?
Is there a marae to which Ngati Uenuku from the valley belong too?
Is there known whakapapa that place Ngati Maringi on the Aotea waka
If you know someone who also maybe able to help with this research please let me know?
Naku Iti nei
Meihana.
