The slightest hint of a soft smile came to her as the stranger insisted on it being no problem to listen to what lay heavy on her heart. What he said was true. The names and places that she knew of meant nothing to him, and perhaps that was actually a good thing. Her blue eyes looked to the three grass-covered graves of her children as she fought with herself on saying anything.
Finally, after moments of silence, she spoke. "Since I was a pup, I've loved a dog. A collie, not whatever sort of breed you are." The wolfess said, glancing at the scraggly canine and back to the grass before her. "Under this earth lie the bones of three of our children. They've been dead many years, by the teeth of their own father.." Trailing off, she set her head down, rubbing her muzzle against the grass before continuing. "He left me in his insanity and in my sorrow, I wanted to end my life. A little collie pup stopped me. A pup that we found to be Toric's brother and I loved him as well, though as a son, not a lover."
Redd had completely forgotten to inform the german shepard of who Toric was. Once she opened her mouth to speak, she couldn't help herself. "Time went on. My collie returned and Lestat grew up. More children came then wandered away. Lestat lost the one who held his heart and decided to take out everything on the mountain. He turned pack against pack, sibling against sibling. He murdered his own brother and cackled.. boasted about it."
She shook her head slowly, closing her eyes at remembering Toric's most recent death. How his lifeless body was brought to the Wind Gale pack. It hurt her every time he left her, but this was the worst because of who killed him. "Now Lestat is dead. And Toric wants to bring him back to life. He got angry.. with me when I told him I didn't want Lestat brought to this world, to leave him dead."
Sighing heavily, she blinked away more tears that were threatening to come. "I'm afraid that he'll kill again. Toric says that I gave him so many chances, why doesn't Lestat deserve one, but I can't. I was younger then, thinking that creatures could change for the better..." Now when she trailed off, she said no more, not wanting to overwhelm the dog anymore than she already had. And she didn't trust her voice not to waver with a sob that she could feel in her throat.
