Sarge offered no answer to the first question she posed, unclear whether she referred to what her actions should be if her house were strong enough to stand or corroded enough to fall. No matter which, the query did not seem addressed to him, for her gaze seemed was averted. He would have had no answers to give her regardless, for in her actions it would depend upon the wolf herself. As much as he wanted to help her, he could not direct her course. As he had offered at the outset, a sympathetic ear was all he could provide...and though he could hope his words might offer at least some clarity to aid her in her dilemma, she was the only one who could determine her future's outcome.
The german shepherd matched her gaze as the wolf spoke again, and his chocolate eyes seemed to turn inward, shadowing slightly with remembered pain.
"Once. I loved...once." He replied quietly, lost for a moment in the past, before he focused once more on the wolf before him and offered a faint, though rather forced smile. "But my words are hardly wise, ma'am. Merely honest."
