Re: Peter Pan Birmingham Hippodrome
Sadly this is the way that Qdos shows are going - visually colourful and stunning, but too 'polished' with the panto traditions and the warmth/heart ripped out of them. They've just become touring shows and with the demise of FFE, I cant see this sad trend continuing.
After many years of hearing how excellent the show is at the Hippodrome, I finally ventured to Birmingham this year to see their version of Peter Pan. For some reason I was expecting more. It was certainly visually stunning with lots speciality acts, but it felt more like a variety show than a family pantomime. Are all qdos shows like this? I must admit Iíve only seen two of their shows at the palladium and the hippodrome, but both seemed to go all out on variety rather than traditional panto elements, compared to other panto producers across the country.
