Instead of bowing out gracefully and with dignity they decided there belief they are entitled to be hired each and every year without audition or casting matters more, its shameful, everyone who works in panto either in production, back stage or onstage now its a privilage to get the same venue two years running.
For this cast its become a monster they feel bigger than the venue, show and audience, they have all been paid handsomely for their work over the years and now the gravy train is over.
AS for Berwick at 73 to want to unretire after just one year and then berate and slag off the venue who have given him everything tells you his mentality. Lets not forget Berwick was paid a 5 figure some for his last panto so to say he is surviving on a £99 state pension is ridiculous.
What comes next for Theatre Royal York will be interesting but one thing is for sure, the magic of pantomime will continue.
