--Previous Message-- Very ingenious idea, DoubleK! Sounds very interesting, almost like an ionic Doctor Pym. I would rather see him shoot blasts while in ionic form only, ala Human Torch, and keep that "Ionic Touch", disrupting people's innards, ala Vision. But I would be open to this approach, as long as he doesn't become an ionic Punisher!
: What I would prefer to see, rather than a
: bunch of new powers, is new technology that
: allows him to tap into his ionic energy.
: All the energy is there. He's bubbling with
: the stuff. Suddenly giving him the power to
: shoot it out of his hands requires some sort
: of silly powerup story. But a too-often
: overlooked concept is the way his belt jets
: used to draw on Simon's own ionic energy.
: It was hinted at pretty heavily, but never
: directly addressed in any substantial
: manner.
:
: So have Simon come up with some devices that
: allow him to use his own energy for various
: purposes without needing to gain "new
: powers" to do it. Not only does it
: broaden Simon's offensive capabilities, but
: it develops his thoroughly neglected
: munitions background. He could create
: weapons that would be completely harmless in
: anyone else's hands, but which would become
: exceptionally powerful in his own by drawing
: on his ionic energy.
:
: Plus, with this, a writer could easily put
: him in a situation where his weapons are
: damaged or have been removed if they want
: him to need to rely solely on his strength.
