And it really would make no sense. Too much would have to be explained away if Simon were a Skrull back then. Not saying Bendis wouldn't claim it was a Skrull Wanda brought back, though.
I know Bendis wasn't a fan of how Wanda "spit out" Simon, but was it really that big a deal? The way I see it, Wondy was a mass of ionic energy, aimlessly floating around, that would have reformed eventually, anyway. Wanda just sped up the process. I mean, it's not like she actually brought him back from the dead...as she did Hawkeye...she just helped the ionic energy reform. The only argument I can see with this is that Simon is now truly pure energy and not flesh and blood anymore...he only thinks he is.(Of course, there is a SMALL chance this is where Bendis is going with Wondy to make the resurrection more acceptable to himself and teasing Simon's a Skrull could be a red herring.)
Besides, if he were a Skrull back then, how would a Skrull be able to come and go at Wanda's call as Simon did before he "came back" for good? A Skrull would have just said, "Okay, I'm here now, Wanda.", and just stayed. But as you said, DoubleK, this IS Bendis...
