First - Avengers Vol. 3 Iss. 11 "Yeah We're Dead...Wanna Make Somethin' Of It?" I think everybody remembers this cover. To be this is one of the finest pieces of work George Perez has ever done. Our boy Simon is leading the charge of the deceased Avengers, namely Captain Marvel I, Dr. Druid, Thunderstrike, Swordsman and Mockingbird. The inking on this page is also top notch as Simon's blue-purple ionic glow gives the perfect amount of shadows on the fallen Avengers to barely highlight theri decacying corpses. Just perfect.
Second - Avengers Vol. 3 Iss. 51. Not sure if everybody would agree here but this cover has always stood out for me. It is in the middle of the Kang Conquers storyline. It shows a Scarlet Witch, devoid of hope, cowering into the embrace of Wonder Man. Simon's despair is extremely evident. The basic chain-link fence with barbed wire top echoes that desparate feeling. The bare-bones white and red back-drop just perfectly mirrors the characters emotions. One of my favorites.
Okay, I could spend hours highlighting some issues. I decided with some newer ones. Anybody else want to chime in? I left PLENTY good ones out there.
