: Everyone seems unreasonably convinced that,
: despite all evidence to the contrary, Bendis
: has a burning passion to write Wonder Man
: that Slott just can't match.
I never said *that*--kindly refrain from putting words in my mouth. All I've said is that Bendis wanted to write Wondy, which is why he included him, and that you were being unfair in saying that Bendis has no interest in writing him, given that he chose to include Wondy in the first place.
Dan clearly also has an interest in writing Simon. Not only did he mention him in the interview, but he has also used him a few times in guest spots and cameo appearances in the INITIATIVE, THING, and GLA.
If I had to choose which of the two of them gets Simon, I would personally choose Dan.
: The only reason he hasn't done so is because
: of facts, you understand.
Seriously, would you knock off the personal sniping?
But, since you brought up facts, once again the facts show you are being inaccurate by saying he "hasn't done so" re: writing Wondy. Thus far, he has written Wonder Man in ALIAS, AVENGERS: DISASSEMBLED, HOUSE OF M, MIGHTY AVENGERS, NEW AVENGERS and SECRET INVASION.
Has he done any major Wonder Man storylines? Nope. He's given Simon some moments here and there (most notably his discussion with Carol about their relationship in MA #6; his speech about being glad to be an Avenger again in MA #7, and his costume makeover scene), but he has not yet done anything really major with him. On the other hand, he hasn't really done anything major yet with Ares, Black Widow or the Wasp either--unfortunately in team books, it sometimes takes a while to get everyone in the spotlight, and the current storyline hasn't helped with that by taking the current main team out of the spotlight.
Does/did Bendis have any major Wonder Man storylines planned? Who knows. We'll have to wait and see. I just don't think its fair to say he has no interest in writing the character.
Just because I disagreed with your opinion doesn't mean this has to become some kind of personal grudge match. Can we just move on, and get back to talking about Wondy?
