Very intersting. You have to wonder how long Simon was being kept as a 'reserve-Skrull in waiting' and if it effectively wrote him out of being a larger part of Secret Invasion and POST-Secret Invasion. I sure hope not.

: As the months went by in Mighty Avengers, like
: most Wonder Man fans [and even some who
: weren't] I couldn't figure out why he'd been
: included on the roster if he wasn't really
: going to be used.
:
: The answer looks to have been given in an
: interview:
:
: Bendis: There were a couple people I thought
: would be interesting Skrulls, that were on
: my list at the outset, we were very clear
: who was and was not a Skrull, but we got to
: the story and realized we didn't need them.
: And we felt that the fewer Skrulls the
: better.
:
: IGN Comics: Anyone specific?
:
: Bendis: Yeah, Simon Williams a.k.a. Wonder
: Man, was supposed to be a Skrull. He was
: such a quieter character – the quiet, noble,
: easy-to-imitate guy – but there was nothing
: he could do that Hank Pym couldn't. And Hank
: was more interesting because they kept
: having to switch him out.

:
: I have conflicting thoughts about this.
:
: Had they followed through, then maybe Wonder
: man would be a featured character in Dark
: Reign.
:
: Since they did not - then that Wonder Man
: 'legacy' talk may not lead to the death that
: I'd been worrying about since I heard it.
:
: So the good news is that Wonder man should
: be available for other writers to use. The
: bad news is that early signs do not point to
: anyone using him - though Dan Slott does
: seem eager to do a Wonder man/Beast story.
: But that is still not the regular gig we
: thought he'd be getting in Mighty Avengers.
: Maybe this also ties into Wonder man's
: erratic use in Ms. Marvel.
:
: In any case, I thought you'd al like to know
: about Brian Bendis' comments..if you didn't
: already run across them yourself.
