Ultimate Wonder Man debuted this month in "Ultimates" 24. And, yes, it IS Simon Williams!
Didn't feel the need to start a new thread with this news because it's just a one page scene where he emerges from some tube he was being "treated" in to fight Iron Man. Iron Man hauls butt before the fight can really get started.
Don't know if you'll like his orgin, it's different yet similar. Simon Williams was a world champion bodybuilder who was accused of "juicing" thus stripped of all his titles and banned from ever competing again. Nick Fury comes to him and offers him a job with SHIELD to join the West Coast Ultimates Initiative. He's given a "hulk serium" to become Wonder Man. Hopefully, we'll see more of him to come.
Now, you may be asking, "Is he a good guy or a bad guy?" As the story goes, the West Coast team is being "used" by the rogue governor of California because he wants to start a war between the East and the West. The whole team is being duped by this man so I'm guesing he's good, just confused.
The Ultimate U. is very different from the 616 U. The U.S. just went through a civil war, Cap is now the President and the country is very unstable at the moment. "The Ultimates" is one of my favorite books out there right now because it IS so different.
