The Upper Kuskokwim and Lower Yukon could have some somewhat cold weather in the next 24 to 36 hours. Nothing we aren't used to even, but I wanted to share the info since I don't think the forecast for Christmas day was this cold when we looked at it late last week.
The upper Kuskokwim Valley forecast as a whole for tonight shows upper teens to mid 20s below zero with highs tomorrow in the mid teens below zero and lows tomorrow night in the lower 20s to near mid 30s below zero
When I look at the McGrath specific forecast, it shows around 25 below zero for lows tonight with tomorrow being even colder, falling to 33 below by lunch time and staying there all day.
We get a few degrees warmer Tuesday and "Warm up" somewhat significantly Wednesday into Thursday.
The forecast for Holy Cross and the Lower Yukon is pretty similar tonight... lows around 20 below. For tomorrow, the Lower Yukon wide forecast shows lower to mid teens below zero with a bit of wind.. Holy Cross's forecast shows about the same temps, but a windchill possibility of up to 40 below.
This is winter in Alaska, nothing we aren't used to but I wanted to share this information since I think the next 36 hours will be a bit colder than the Christmas day and environs forecast showed when we looked at it late last week.
The rest of our listening area, like Sleetmute/The lower Kuskokwim doesn't get quite as cold and Fort Yukon is even in the teens above zero today!
Stay warm, bundle up and plug in whatever needs to be plugged in!
