The Federal Subsistence Board will be accepting applications from January 2 through February 16, 2025, to fill seats on the 10 Subsistence Regional Advisory Councils (Councils). Council membership appointments are typically for 3-year terms. There are approximately 43 seats open for appointment among all Councils.
The Councils meet at least twice a year and provide recommendations to the Federal Subsistence Board on subsistence management issues. Council meetings serve as a forum for regional public involvement in Federal subsistence management. Council members must be knowledgeable about the uses of fish and wildlife resources in their region and reside in the region they wish to represent.
Individuals may apply for membership themselves, or an individual or organization may nominate someone for Council membership. The application form and information about the application process and the Councils is available on the Federal Subsistence Management Program’s website: www.doi.gov/subsistence/regions. The application form and additional information is also available by contacting Katerina Wessels, Council Coordination Division Supervisor at the Office of Subsistence Management, at (800) 478-1456 or (907) 444-1376 or katerina_wessels@ios.doi.gov.
