Apps are great but while it may show the name of your town, it doesnt always show where that temperature is coming from and it could be pulling details from another community for current temperature/conditions. And if the temperature sensor theyre using goes down, it pulls data from another site and may not tell you.
I've also seen cases where temps on some phones app native to the phone can be 10-15 degrees off.
