Family Health Resources (FHR) assists all community members with their program applications for third-party insurance programs such as Medicaid (initial and renewal), Medicare, sliding fee scale, veterans benefits and private insurance. FHR representatives can assist in the entire enrollment and renewal process for third-party insurance programs by verifying your eligibility and helping fill out required forms.
Why is third-party insurance important?
Indian Health Service funding does not cover the total cost of Alaska Native and American Indian health care needs. Roughly 50% of all SCF services would not exist if SCF relied on IHS funding alone. Billing third-party insurance helps compensate what IHS does not cover.
Additional benefits you may receive if you are covered by third-party insurance include:
Glasses, Hearing Aids and Dental Work
Ambulance and Medevac coverage
Out of State Medical Travel
Ability to seek care outside of SCF if additional services are needed
FHR can assist anyone in the community. Please come to the clinic between the hours of 8AM-12PM, 1PM-5PM, to meet with Tazz Studie, our FHR Specialist, for assistance. It is helpful to plan ahead and bring proof of income (wages, social security, dividends, unemployment, etc.)
