Across interior Alaska, mild temperatures and sunny conditions—along with a nearly depleted low-elevation snowpack—have led to continued ice degradation on the Upper Yukon, Tanana, and parts of the Upper and Middle Kuskokwim Rivers.
Break up for western Alaska is expected to be 1 to 3 days later than usual. The forecast for early May favors near normal temperatures for the interior. In the immediate KSKO listening area, everyone has a low risk for flooding, except for Anvik which is rated as low moderate whos forecast break up date is May 13 to 19th. McGrath's & Crooked Creeks forecast break up date is May 3rd to 9th, Sleetmutes April 30th to May 6th, and Red Devil's is May 2nd to 8th.
