You might say...well KSKO hasn't been on air that long? No, only 44 years and while she wasn't much for recognition, she was a major force along with her husband in the creation of KSKO after Mike Harrington thought way back in 1976/77 that McGrath an environs deserved a radio station. She worked hard alongside her husband for 4 years to find the funding, equipment, people and knowledge with KSKO finally signing on July 1st 1981 at 601am
Isabelle was the first VERY FIRST person I met when I moved McGrath and I somewhat quickly came to appreciate her quiet, understated but genuine care and concern. Whenever she offered an opinion, a piece of advice or idea it was always done with a few dashes of motherly love/care thrown in.
Isabelle was also invaluable to me in another way when she was in McGrath.... stepping into the studio and pulling local DJ shifts when I needed someone to cover. I lovingly called the music she picked "Isabelle FM".. it was a smattering of light rock, softer music and some current pop. She did a fantastic job on air and listeners LOVED hearing her on air.
To that end, we are going to honor Isabelle with an hour of HER FAVORITE MUSIC. With assistance and permission from her family, we got ahold of her Spotify playlist and this Thursday from 6 to 7pm, we're going to play an hour back to back, uninterrupted of Isabelle's favorite tunes.
If you can't hear us on the radio, you can tune in at www.kskopublicradio.com to stream us from wherever you are. We are 1 hour behind California(Pacific), 1 hour behind New York City (Eastern)
