Monday, June 2nd.
This year, the Chinook salmon run is forecasted to be well below average and insufficient to provide any surplus for harvest. Subsistence fishing closures will start based on historic Chinook salmon run timing and follow the salmon as they travel upriver.
The summer chum salmon run will be assessed as it enters the river. When the summer chum salmon run is projected to meet the drainagewide escapement goal, fishing opportunities with selective gear types may be announced.
In District 3, including the communities of Holy Cross:
Subsistence fishing is open 24 hours per day, seven days per week with seven and a half inch or smaller mesh gillnets as well as other salmon and nonsalmon gear types. All fish caught may be retained.
Effective 8 p.m. Saturday, June 7th, Chinook and chum salmon subsistence fishing will close. Gillnets larger than 4-inch will not be allowed. Gillnets of 4-inch or smaller mesh may be used to target nonsalmon but are restricted to 60-feet or less in length and must be operated as a set net.
In the Innoko River, including Shageluk:
