This afternoon, Kuskokwim River Fishing - ADF&G issued Emergency Order 3-S-WR-03-24 for state waters of the Kuskokwim River.
IN SUBSISTENCE SECTIONS 4 & 5 (from Aniak to the headwaters): Starting TOMORROW, June 12, at 12:01 AM, until further notice:
– Subsistence fishing with drift or set gillnets will OPEN 24/7. Gillnets can be up to 6" mesh, 150 feet in length, and 45 meshes in depth.
– Subsistence fishing with all legal subsistence gear (including gillnets, fish wheels, dip nets, beach seines, and hook and line) will OPEN 24/7.
IN STATE WATER OF THE ANIAK RIVER: As previously announced in EO 3-S-WR-02-25:
– Subsistence fishing with gillnets is CLOSED.
– Subsistence fishing with hook and line for Chinook salmon is CLOSED.
– Subsistence fishing with fish wheels, beach seines, and dipnets is OPEN, EXCEPT for the retention of Chinook salmon. Any Chinook salmon caught must be returned to the water alive. Additionally, fish wheels must have a live box and chute, and be checked at least every 6 hours.
IN STATE WATERS OF THE ANIAK BOX (see the posted map): Starting TOMORROW, June 12, at 12:01 AM, until further notice:
– Subsistence fishing with set and drift gillnets is CLOSED.
– Subsistence fishing with hook and line for Chinook salmon is CLOSED.
– Subsistence fishing with fish wheels, beach seines, and dipnets is OPEN, EXCEPT for the retention of Chinook salmon. Any Chinook salmon caught must be returned to the water alive. Additionally, fish wheels must have a live box and chute, and be checked at least every 6 hours.
