With a government shutdown looming, there may be some questions or what's going on may be hard to follow so I asked Alaska Public Media Washington Correspondent Liz Ruzkin what a government shutdown at 1201am would mean if the Senate does not pass a House measure that would extend federal funding for seven weeks. This is what Liz tells me:

There remain many unknowns because the agencies haven’t published their plans. But, as our stories keep saying, services with a different source of funding, like USPS and Social Security will continue. others, like TSA and military, will continue because they’re deemed essential. Federal lands can’t be closed off but the personnel might not be on duty.
