In December 2026, the Kuskokwim River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission, Bethel Community Services Foundation, Alaska Sea Grant, and the City of Bethel are organizing donations and distribution of traditional (subsistence) foods for families in Bethel and the Y-K Delta who were impacted or displaced by ex-Typhoon Halong.

We are seeking donated traditional food items for this distribution effort. Evacuees have shared specific requests for frozen whitefish, herring in oil, seal oil and meat, whale meat, geese, ducks, moose, salmonberries, and blackberries – though any harvested food is appreciated.

Donations should be foods harvested in 2025, not freezer-burned, individually packaged (if possible), and vacuum-sealed (if possible).

Donations can also be shipped to Bethel. Please put "Terese Vicente, KRITFC, 907-545-7388, donations@kritfc.org" as the pick-up contact. Please ship by December 10 if possible.
