The US National Weather Service Fairbanks Alaska told me that McGrath's low temp today was 54 degrees below zero, making it the coldest day in 14 years when the low temp that day was 55 below on January 4, 2012.

As I tell my listeners, at least it isnt January 1989 when McGrath broke and still holds the weather record for the coldest ever record temp wit ha windchill in a populated place in the us.. 100 below!
