.... the coldest ever recorded temperature with a windchill in a populated place in the US happened on this date way back in 1989 in McGrath when we hit 100 below.

The actual temp was 75 below and we had a bit of a wind making that 100 below windchill. Some areas to our "immediate" north and east in thhe Galena area had real temps colder than us in the 80s below but no windchill.

Remove the population requirement and Alaska.. and the award goes to Mt Washington, NH at 108 below.
