TCC is sponsoring a Basketball and Challenge Life clinic with Coach Al (A brief resume is posted at the bottom of this posting). This opportunity is open to McGrath area children (I will be there to help supervise the K-5 group on the weekends.)


Thursday:
12:35 PM: K-5 McGrath School students
1:40 PM: MS/HS McGrath School students
7-9 PM: MS/HS Open Gym with Coach Al (ages 12 and up, all community)

Friday:
12-1 PM K-5 (5yrs-11yrs) McGrath area kids
1-2:30 PM: MS/HS (12yrs-18yrs) McGrath area kids
6:00 PM: All ages, all community

Saturday:
12-1 PM K-5 (5yrs-11yrs) McGrath area kids
1-2:30 PM: MS/HS (12yrs-18 yrs) McGrath area kids

Coaching Career: Sokaitis has coached at multiple levels, including stints at Western State College, University of Southern Maine, North Adams State College (now MCLA), and Post University.

Alaska Sports Hall of Fame: He was inducted into the Alaska State Hall of Fame for his impact on basketball in the state.

International Coaching: He served as the head coach of the Tanzanian national basketball team.

Awards: He achieved his 500th career victory in 2016 while coaching at Post University.

Other Roles: Outside of coaching, he has served as a lead clinician at NCAA Division I Final Fours and worked with NBA players, including David Lee.

Community Involvement: He has been involved with the Special Olympics Board of Directors in Alaska and the Challenge Life Youth Foundation.
